From Training Dolphins To Training Dogs- Napa Good Dog!August 21, 2012
After 35 years working around the world as a Marine Mammal trainer I decided to settle here in the Napa Valley and continue doing what I have always loved to do, work with animals. In 2008 after training dogs and especially their owners on the side while I was managing the Marine Mammal department at Marine World I decided to go full time with my own business, GOOD DOG! Dog Training. In most cases I go to the dog owner’s home and train them how to train their dogs.
Since 1973 I have been employed as a professional animal trainer working with a wide variety of both exotic animals and domestic animals. When I say exotic animals I am referring primarily to Marine Mammals, Dolphins, Killer Whales and Sea Lions. Along the way I also worked with Elephants, Chimpanzees, Tigers, Leopards, Cougars and smaller primates.
A large portion of the requests for my services are from people who are at their wits end dealing with a problem pooch and I am the last chance before the dog is given up for adoption or worse. This is adding to the already crowded conditions at local shelters due to the number of dogs given up as a result of the foreclosure crisis. In most of these cases I can turn this around by showing frustrated owners how to gain control and have a pet that they can enjoy at home, going for walks and even taking them with them on vacations.
Over the past 10 years I have also worked part time in several wine tasting rooms I the Napa Valley and as a result of this I have added an additional service to Dog Owners, DOG FRIENDLY WINE TOURS!
I will pick up and take you and your pooch on a tour of some of the valley’s 60+ Dog Friendly Wineries, you can design your tour or I can do it for you. You can relax and enjoy yourself while I look after Fido, I even throw in a little free training and supply water and tennis balls.
I live here in Napa with my wife, Beulah and son, Nigel and am dedicated to the success of Good Dog!
